House Foundations

In case you didn’t already know, house foundations are the most important part of a home. Doesn’t matter whether your home is a one bedroom cottage or a multi-bedroom sprawling abode, if the foundation has problems, the whole house has problems. Your home is the most important investment you will ever make, that’s why it’s so important to protect it.

Many people think to get fire, flood and other insurance, but there isn’t any insurance policy per se for house foundations. So, what’s a homeowner to do? How do you protect your investment? It can be simple or it can be complicated.

Begin by checking your house foundation for problems. But how do you know? First, look for warning early warning signs of problems. Do you get frequent water leaks in your basement? Do you have doors and/or windows that stick? Do you have cracks in your foundation or other walls in your home?

When it comes to house foundations, you may not think that frequent water leaks in your basement are actually a problem, but you would be wrong. Frequent water leaks can not only be a sign of a much larger problem within the house foundation, but these water leaks can actually weaken the foundation, eventually leading to major structural damage and issues.

If you answered yes to any of these questions you may already have a problem in your house foundation. The best plan of action is to find a qualified foundation repair specialist and have them do a free inspection. Look for someone who comes with good references and even better has a structural engineer on staff.

So, now that you know how important it is to protect house foundations, make sure you check for warning signs on a regular basis. Knowing is half the battle, use your knowledge and protect your most valuable investment!
