Kitchen floor unlevel – is my foundation the cause?
Added
January 16, 2007
Q. My house has signs of foundation settlement. The kitchen floor is unlevel. It drops about 1 inch over a 30 foot span. Do I need to have my foundation repaired, or is there another possibly solution?
A: Perhaps. There can be many different causes for the slope in your kitchen floor. It could be any of the following:
- Foundation is suffering from differential settlement problems.
- Foundation is suffering from tipping.
- Support beams under the kitchen could be failing
- The rest of the house is uneven and the kitchen is level!
The best advice is to seek the opinion of a professional foundation repair company. Have them come out for an inspection to determine what has caused the slope in your kitchen floor, what can be done to correct the problem, and the price required to do the work.
